Feature: Wines in Common

October 30th, 2007

On Adegga you can add your friends and follow what they are doing. What they tasted and what they want to taste next (via their wishlist). To make it easier to see how close another member’s tastes are to yours you can use our Wines in Common feature.

Using Wines in Common you can discover how many wines you have in your cellar, tasted wines and wishlist in common with another Adegga member.

To use this feature login, visit a user’s profile (try, for example hmoreira or ldiogo) and click on View all wines in common.

As always we’re testing this feature. Any comments and suggestions are welcome (ok, bugs too).
Just leave your comment bellow and tell us what you think. Thanks!

New feature: Tag Descriptions

October 14th, 2007

Thinking about the upcoming Wine Blogging Wednesday we decided to implement a new feature: Tag Descriptions.

Wine Blogging Wednesday (or WBW) is a monthly virtual wine tasting. Each month there’s a different theme and bloggers try to taste wines according to that theme. Then, a hosting blogger aggregates all the entries by posting about who has participated.

We thought about it for a while and decided to help people discover more about Wine Blogging Wednesday and at the same time help our Adegga members easily add the tasted wines to their own lists (cellar, tasted or wishlist).

We already had a page for each tag but it was not descriptive enough. So we added* the possibility of anyone adding more information!

feature: tag description
Tag Description for “wbw38″

An example:
If all wines tasted in the WBW38 theme** were tagged with WBW38, someone who happens to visit the WBW38 tag page might wonder what WBW is all about. But because someone (in this case me) already added a Tag Description there’s no more confusion. It even has links to the correct sources of information.

So anyone can add a description to a tag. If there’s already a description in place but you would like to change it, just flag the description and tell us what you want to change.

Want to help us add Tag Descriptions? Try douro, lemon or cabernetsauvignon.

* credit goes to Technorati for creating the WTF (no. It’s Where’s the fire?) feature which we used as inspiration.
** original list kindly provided by the cool guys at Catavino. Thanks Ryan and Gabriella!

What is Adegga?

October 3rd, 2007

We have shown some screenshots but we haven’t said much about what is project all about. Here’s a short explanation of Adegga.

What is Adegga?
Adegga is an online service that helps you discover and choose wine by sharing your opinions with people you trust.

Adegga lets you build a personalized Watchlist so that you can keep track of what people on your list are choosing and tasting. You can add friends, wine bloggers, producer and just about anyone else. You can also add wine producers and wine shops to your personalized Watchlist so that you keep track of when a producer releases a new wine or a wine shop makes a promotion.

Adegga also helps you organize your wines. You can keep track of wines you taste, make a wishlist or organize your home cellar.

So what can you do with Adegga?
Here’s a short list of situations where you can use Adegga.

  • See which wines you have in your cellar.
  • Read what people you trust think about a specific wine you want to try.
  • Lookup up prices for a wine you’re thinking of buying.
  • See which wines you’ve tasted to check if you have tried a wine before.
  • Check your Wishlist before your next visit to the wine shop.
  • Check if someone you trust has a specific bottle of wine.
  • Review that amazing wine shop you’ve just bought wine from.
  • See what promotions your favorite wine shop is running this week.
  • Read what wine bloggers are saying about a wine (soon).

There’s more that you can do on Adegga and there’s more that we want you to be able to do.
