A few weeks ago we had this crazy idea of making a video to thank you all for being with us in 2008. We started thinking about what to include in the video and realized that it would be much more interesting if you could all participate!
So here’s what we thought. Film yourself (with a camera, mobile phone, webcam) answering 2 simple questions: Who are you? (name and location) and How do you describe Adegga in 3 words?.
Feeling shy? Drink a glass or two of wine then watch this video. You’ll be ready to film yourself!
Send us your video (or a link to youtube or vimeo) via email or add it in the comments below.
We’ll be receiving video clips until December 20th (ok, you lazy! We extended until 24th December). We’ll then stitch all videos together, post it here on the blog and send it with our next newsletter!
A few months ago we were involved in an interesting project with the good guys at Catavino that basically consisted of launching a wine with a QRCode on the label. The idea was that people would be able to know more information about the wine when they read the QRCode on the label.
We were very excited about this experiment so we decided to generate a QRCode to every wine we have on our database. Together with the mobile version of adegga we could now offer a way for anyone to access information about a specific wine just by reading a simple code with their mobile phone, anywhere.
The idea is simple
Imagine you are in a restaurant or in a wine shop and would like to know more information about a wine. If a wine uses a QRCode you’ll be able to use your mobile phone to access information about that wine on adegga (ratings, notes, prices). If you have a camera enabled mobile phone you’ll just need to install a small application that lets you read these codes.
This in fact creates a dynamic version of the old wine labels with a lot more information. For that reason we’re calling this technology the new Dynamic Wine Labels.
To make this work we’ve connected three things together: the AVIN our ISBN-like unique wine identifier, the mobile version of adegga and the QRCodes technology.
These new Dynamic Wine Labels have raised interest from some wineries. Cortes de Cima was the first winery to meet with us to talk on how they could add these codes to their wine labels. Recently Quevedo started designing their new labels which now include this technology (photos and posts about this soon).
I’m a winery, how can I use this? The wine codes are public and visible throughout adegga. If you want to add them to your labels, please go ahead. It’s free. If you want to manage the information that you see on adegga and on the mobile page you access with the code make sure you check our producer accounts. In any case if you just have interest contact us and let us what you think.
We’ve recently launched a new set of wine widgets to use on your blog so that you can list your tasting profile or your favorites wines.
We’ve spotted some of them working around the Web and decided to let you know how they look on the real world. So here are 3 nice examples: Planeta Tse Tse, Firefly Playground and (shamelessly) my own personal blog.
Adegga is a wine community so it was time we designed a homepage that shows exactly that. The new homepage shows what adegga members are doing, top wines per country and much more.
Go on, take a look!
We’ve also improved search and added the ability to browse wines per type, country and vintage (bottom of the homepage). For example you can see Top wines from Portugal or Top wanted wines from Spain.
For those of you who want to show your wine passion on your blog we’ve developed a very cool badge and a bunch of customizable widgets.
The Info Badge
The new information badge gives you a badge with your tasting profile. Get your badge here.
Here’s an example of my Info Badge:
Customizable Widget
You can also display your wine lists on a customizable widget. Display your recently tasted wines, your cellar, your wishlist or your favourites. Get your customized widget here.
Here’s an example widget listing my favourite wines:
Hope you like the new widgets. Let us know if you need any help getting them on your blog.
