Dynamic Wine Labels on the Google Phone

March 30th, 2009

At Barcamp Portugal we showed for the first time the new Cortes de Cima 2006 dynamic wine labels to the community.

Dynamic Wine Labels are wine labels that include a QRCode and an AVIN. By reading this code or searching google for using the AVIN you anyone can easily reach the wine page on adegga and find wine reviews, prices and more information about that wine.

Kindly enough Luis Abreu let us use his brand new Google Phone (also know as T-mobile G1) and Francisco Cabrita helped us in order to produce this short demo. Thanks guys!

Adegga at Barcamp Portugal Spring 2009

March 30th, 2009

This weekend we were at the spring edition of Barcamp Portugal where we talked to old friends, met a bunch of new people and discovered a couple of interesting projects and ideas.

We also showed the new Cortes de Cima 2006 dynamic wine labels to the community for the first time and made a nice video with a Google Phone to show it.

Redesign! 30 days, 150 pages

March 18th, 2009

We’re undergoing a small redesign. We’ve retouched some elements and recoded the layout of Adegga to make it work better on all browsers*.

We have more than 150 different templates* on Adegga and all of them need to be changed to the new code. We’re going to work on a couple of them each days and hopefully in 30 days we’ll have Adegga completely converted the new, faster code.

We have finished the first redesign on the producer page (examples here or here). The result is a faster loading page which is more beautiful and compatible with several browsers!

adegga_redesign

The renovation work will last for around 30 days, in the meantime let us know if you find any issues on the site.

* Mostly the problem is with Internet Explorer, please use Firefox.
* Each page on adegga is based on a specifically programmed template. For example for all the wine pages there’s only one template, for every wine producer page another template and so on.

EV2009: Top 10 Portuguese Wines

March 8th, 2009

This year at Essência do Vinho I was not able to taste a lot of wines. The venue is too small for the number of participants that the wine fair has these days. The ones I tried thought clearly show that there are some really good wines coming up to the market really soon.

There was a contest to elect the Top 10 Portuguese wines (at the fair of course). Ryan and Gabriella participated alongside a group of 20+ judges (including Spanish critic Jose Penin) to blind taste a group of wines and elect the The Top 10 Portuguese wines at the Essência do Vinho.

Top White Wine

  1. Soalheiro 2007 (wishlist to wishlist)

Top Red Wines

  1. Scala Scoeli 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  2. Vinhas da Ira 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  3. Quinta Vale D. Maria 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  4. Quinta das Tecedeiras Reserva 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  5. Quanta Terra 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  6. Herdade dos Grous Reserva 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  7. CV 2006 (+ Wishlist)

Top Portuguese Port Wines

  1. Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port 2006 (+ Wishlist)
  2. Dow´s Quinta Senhora Da Ribeira Vintage 2006 (+ Wishlist)

I made sure to tag them all with ev2009 on adegga so you can easily find this list and add them to your wishlist.

EV2009: Social Media Workshop for Wineries

March 8th, 2009

This weekend I travelled to Porto to attend the Essência do Vinho wine fair where I planned to meet our good friends Ryan and Gabriella from Catavino and to taste some new Portuguese wine releases

One of the highlights of wine fair was the first ever Workshop on Social Media for Wineries in Portugal that the Catavino team was going to present.

It was 50 minute presentation with the room full of people wanting to learn about social media. I helped streaming a live video feed with Ryan’s mobile phone and Gabriella live blogged the whole event to an worldwide (I had to say that) audience watching us online. Great moment.

Here’s the recording of the workshop:

Ryan’s presentation certainly raised some questions and in the end there were some people wanting to know more about Social Media. For a first workshop on the subject I think this is a very good sign. Congratulations to Ryan and Gabriella for bringing the social media for wineries workshop to Portugal.

EV2009 at the Palácio da Bolsa (Video)

March 8th, 2009

Lots of wine lovers and passionate wine producers at the 2009 edition of the Essência do Vinho wine fair that took place in the impressive (albeit small) Palácio da Bolsa venue.

This is a small video to show the venue and the ambiance of the last Essência do Vinho wine fair:
