A new design for the Dynamic Wine Label

August 31st, 2009

The back label on the Cortes de cima 2007 has been redesigned to include a new version of the Adegga Dynamic Wine label concept.

The back label includes an AVIN (the wine’s unique number) and a QRCode that allows anyone with a mobile phone to access the wine’s mobile page on Adegga and check reviews and prices.

The difference to the old label is that there’s a new line of text: Scan or Google. This was added to make it easier for people to understand what to do with the AVIN and the QRCode.

Cortes de cima was an early adopter of the Dynamic Wine Labels technology and continues to help us innovate the concept.

If you’re interested in adding this technology to your wines let us know so we can help you do it.

A special thanks to Luisa for starting the work on the Italian version.

Adegga is now available in 6 different languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch and Italian) so thanks to all of you who worked hard to add the translations.

If you want to translate Adegga into your own language let us know.

Top Active Members

August 18th, 2009

We’ve made some changes in the way the Top Active Members is displayed.

Now you can see how many useful notes a user has (voted by other members on each note) and also how many wines each member has added to Adegga. Here’s how it looks like:

Under the hood

August 14th, 2009

We’ve been making lots of small changes and improvements. Here’s a list of some of them:

  • We have a new dedicated server for the Database. Site is now much faster! Nevertheless we’re still fixing some server issues.
  • The WineRank is now visible on search results and updated every 24 hours for all wines on Adegga.
  • The pages for Editing grapes, Adding Tags and Adding labels have all been converted to the new design.
  • The homepage now includes a Featured review.
  • When you visit us via Google, we’ve included some unobstructive Google ads. It’s just a test for now. Pages from Premium producers don’t have ads.
  • The details for each wine (type, producer, other vintages, etc.) have been redesigned and are now easier to read.
  • The mobile site has been undergoing some design changes to better fit different mobile phones.
  • Internal Messaging System has been converted to the new design. It’s also easier to use now.
  • We’ve improved readability on the site. Lots of small css changes including font-size and color.
  • The community page has been redesigned.
  • We’ve been canceling a lot of spam accounts. Spammers are nowhere to be seen on Adegga!

A lot more stuff is being developed and will soon be online. If you have ideas for the site let us know. We’re all ears.

How to Add a Wine to Adegga

August 14th, 2009

Adding a wine to Adegga couldn’t be easier. We’ve redesigned the process and adding a missing wine it’s now even simpler.

With the help of form suggestions that show several options for what you actually want to write it is very easy to fill out the fields in the form. Adding a new wine takes just a few steps:

1) Write a wine name.
2) Write a year / vintage.
3) Choose a wine type (red, white, etc.).
4) Write a wine region (using the useful suggestions).
5) Choose a country.
6) Write the producer name (or choose from one of the suggestions).

And that’s it. You’ll then be redirected to the new wine where you can add a label or write a tasting note.

New wine details
With the redesign we’ve also included some extra wine details. It’s now possible to add things like (grapes) varietals, alcohol level and type of closure (cork, synthetic, screw cap) on the same page. All these new details are, of course, optional.

Here’s how the new form works (including form suggestions):

Credits
As always we give credit to all member who add wines to Adegga. Every wine features the name of the member who added that wine and the total number of wines added will show up on each member’s profile.

Thanks for suggesting all these new changes and for adding so many wines to Adegga!
