Newsletter June 2008
Hello wine lovers!
It was about time we sent some news regarding the exciting things we have been doing! We’ve been working hard on making Adegga better, we’ve added some nice features, cleaned up the interface and also enjoyed (of course) some nice bottles of wine.
Here’s a summary of some of the most relevant things that happened recently:
Ratings and Top Wines
———————–
Thanks to all of you there’s now a big number of wines with ratings on Adegga! For each one we’ve now added an average rating. This also allowed us to build a few nice top wine lists. Here are the Top Red Wines http://www.adegga.com/wine/browse/type/1 and Top White Wines http://www.adegga.com/wine/browse/type/2 . With more ratings we’ll be able to show more nice lists like the Top Portuguese Wines http://www.adegga.com/wine/browse/country/620
Your Watchlist RSS
———————–
You can now be updated on your rss reader. Keep updated on what the ones you follow are tasting by subscribing to your own personalized RSS feed. Sign-in to Adegga http://www.adegga.com/login to get the feed from your homepage. Soon you’ll also be able to receive news from your favorite wineries.
Prices comparison
———————–
We’ve now have 10,000 wine prices from 20 online wine shops and we’re adding more shops every week. You can check prices in euros, pounds and dollars. If there’s a shop you think we should have on Adegga let us know.
Wine blog search engine
———————–
There’s great content being written out there by great wine lovers and we thought we could make it easier for everyone to discover it. So we launched a search engine for wine blogs and integrated it into Adegga. We’re covering more than 400 wine blogs and it’s all right here http://www.adegga.com/blogs/
The AVIN (an ISBN for wine)
———————–
Every wine should have a uniquely identifying code like every book has an ISBN! This is basically the idea behind the AVIN code. We have developed and integrated this code into wines in Adegga. Every new wines added to Adegga (by you or us) will automatically get its AVIN!
There are lots of uses for the AVIN but here’s an example of a nice one. We’ve developed a feature that when a wine blogger wants to make a post about a specific wine, he can tag it with the wine’s AVIN (or include a link back to the wine) and we’ll automatically index this post into the wine page. Here’s an example of how this works http://www.adegga.com/wine/AVIN5075438215734/blogposts
Wine Blogger Accounts
———————–
Talking about wine bloggers, we have created a special account just for these great wine lovers. If you’re a wine blogger and would like to get your special account (and a nice badge next to your username) let us know. You can also integrate your blog on Adegga, here’s how http://www.adegga.com/help/use-the-avin-integrate-wine-blog/
What’s next?
———————–
We’re working on a new face for Adegga. We’ll be cleaning out the design (yes, more!), take out the not so good parts and make the good ones stand out! We’re also doing our first tests with winery accounts with some interested winemakers. Let us know if you’re a producer and would like to test them too.
Featured Member
———————–
We’re going to feature one of you on each newsletter.
We choose one of our biggest supporters as the first featured member. Hugo Moreira has been rating wines, writing tasting notes and sending lots of suggestions. He’s a big fan of Portuguese wines as you can see from his tasted wines. Be sure to add him to your Watchlist! http://www.adegga.com/user/hmoreira
Thank you, Thank you!

We launched Adegga a year ago in beta and so it’s time to celebrate. Thank you all for the great ideas and suggestions that you have been sending. Feel free to continue doing so, we love it!
You can always find this and other news on our blog http://blog.adegga.com
Enjoy your wines,
